Upgrading from Beta-Test
If you are currently using the Beta-Version of Red Ink, you need to upgrade now. It will no longer work after December 31, 2025, which is when the beta test ends.
You can find out whether you are using it by hovering with the mouse over the Red Ink logo. The version will be shown (see image on the right).
Upgrading from the beta-test version is easy and fast. Do the following four steps:
Step 1 – Uninstall Beta Version
Uninstall each of the three Red Ink add-ins using the Windows feature “Add & Remove Programs” oder “Apps & features”. You will find it quickly if you enter “Red Ink”. Uninstalling will not remove your configuration file.
Step 2 – Install New Version
With your Edge browser (it must be Edge), go to the Downloads page on this website and click on each of three buttons for the three Red Ink add-ins (and confirm the security check that you wish to proceed). You can choose between two versions of Red Ink.
If you are unsure, choose the General Audience version. Only install one. You can switch later, if you want.
The installation will be performed. Your main configuration will be maintained. Your chat histories, your the temporary storage of your last prompts and your local settings (positioning of windows, formatting overrides etc.) will be lost, though.
If the installer provides the error message “Specified argument was out of the range of valid values” then this is because the de-installation did not work properly. Follow the instructions here.
Step 3 – Configure License
Once the installation is done and start up Red Ink, you will have to enter your license information, as shown in the image below, unless your IT administrator has preconfigured this (in which case the window will not appear). The licensing options are described here. Unless you select a “Private License”, you will need to obtain the license through our online shop, which will provide you the necessary information for this dialog:
You will have to repeat this procedure for all three add-ins (unless your administrator has configured your license centrally).
Step 4 – Get more stuff
To get sample files and configuration settings, you may want to use the “Get more stuff” page here.

You can now continue using Red Ink. The software will automatically update to new versions, unless you have configured it not to do so.
